N.36 | Do you want to change the world? And where do you start in your company?

N.36 | Do you want to change the world? And where do you start in your company?

One of the key questions that accompanies each change is where to start.
A few years ago the video of the US Admiral William Harry McRaven had some success that speaking to the students of the University of Texas admitted that it might seem ridiculous but that the key advice he gave was "If you wanna change the world start off by making your bed".

It is obvious that we would like everyone in unison (people, companies, institutions) to change behaviors and rules at the same time, to change "seriously". Experience teaches that what happens in a complex adaptation process in which sometimes the change "starts from the top" to try to encourage or oblige different behaviors (let's think about what happened on the occasion of COVID 19, in a few days we have collectively been forced to radically change entrenched behavior); conversely, other times the change "emerges from below", from people. In this case, people, first few and then more and more, change values and behaviors, and only later do the rules change.

The theme comes up again in the company; how to change the way we work to introduce circular economy practices? Shall we start by informing people? Training them? Ordering to follow a new procedure? By assigning responsibility on this issue or introducing a new organizational role?

Obviously there is no single recipe valid for each context, what we at Regenesi propose is to make it happen. Starting from existing work processes, analyzing waste and proposing new products (which can be sold in turn or used as communication tools). We also offer a series of turnkey projects about sustainable fashion and design to achieve a concrete result.

The industrial company can thus equip itself with corporate gifts that arise from the regeneration of its waste, and the fashion company with a new line of sustainable accessories (starting to evaluate concretely whether and how to reorient its production processes); the shop can enrich its offer with a unique product in terms of style, innovation and eco-sustainability.

The question therefore remains, do you want to wait for someone to force you to introduce the circular economy into your processes or do you want to start the day by making your bed? We are ready!
